Rotary International is investing in social projects in Benguela Province

The president of the Rotary Club of Lobito, Manuel Inácio Correia, announced the launch of social projects aimed at helping to address community issues, particularly in the fight against hunger.

The official was speaking to the press following a meeting with the provincial governor of Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior, stating that it is necessary to step up cooperation with government authorities with a view to implementing social projects, according to the Angola Press website.

Manuel Inácio Correia emphasized that the main objective of the meeting was to coordinate social intervention strategies, promoting a more practical and effective joint effort to address the issues affecting local communities.

According to him, Rotary International aims to engage institutional and private partners in an approach that is more responsive to social issues.

In his view, concrete action is needed in areas such as access to clean water, education, the fight against hunger, and improving living conditions for communities.

“Our commitment is to actively collaborate with the government. We have already done our part as a civil society organization, and we hope that the government will also step up to the plate so that, together, we can find sustainable solutions to the major social challenges,” he said.

The official emphasized that the projects to be implemented are designed to meet basic needs, particularly in the most vulnerable areas of the province, so that they yield tangible results in people’s daily lives.

He added that Rotary also plays a role in monitoring and identifying social issues, serving as a link between communities and government authorities to facilitate the implementation of effective solutions.

As part of his expansion strategy, Manuel Inácio Correia also revealed that the organization intends to extend Rotary’s presence to other provinces in the country, particularly Huambo and Huíla, thereby strengthening its national reach.

This initiative is part of Rotary International’s vision to promote sustainable community development through projects that directly impact people’s lives, helping to reduce social inequalities and strengthen community cohesion in Angola.
